What’s in Cigarette?

topelement

Cigarettes are more than tobacco being wrapped in paper. There are over 5000 chemical toxins that get released from the smoke of a cigarette. About 70 toxins that get released from the combustion process causes cancer. Most of us smoke to get relaxed for a while, but when the nicotine dies down, we will be able to feel the effect of the chemicals in the cigarettes.

The following are some of the major compounds that are found in a cigarette:

Tar:

About 70% of the tar that is inhaled by the smoker remains in his/her lungs. You can find this out from an experiment. Take a handkerchief and fill your mouth with smoke but do not inhale the smoke. Now you need to blow the smoke through the hand handkerchief, and you will be able to find a brown sticky stain on the scarf. You can repeat the process and check how tar gets accumulated in the cloth. Just imagine if the same tar gets accumulated in your lungs.

Carbon Monoxide:

As carbon monoxide is a colour-less and order less gas, our body will not be able to differentiate between oxygen and carbon monoxide, and thus both the gasses get absorbed into the bloodstream. If you happen to inhale excess carbon monoxide, there are chances that you might even die or get into a coma. Your muscles will be fatigued as there is no supply of oxygen and you will be dizzy all the time.

Nicotine:

Nicotine is an addictive drug, it is the substance which makes smokers to smoke again and again, but it is not carcinogenic. Nicotine reaches the brain within seconds of inhaling, and it provides a relaxed sensation. People often feel refreshed after taking in nicotine, and our brains act in such a way that it would keep giving out signals for you to consume more nicotine.

Toluene:

Toluene is often associated with permanent brain damage. It initially causes memory loss and weakness then later it causes anorexia and nausea.

Ammonia:

Ammonia is used in cigarettes by manufacturers to boost the impact of nicotine. Ammonia causes asthma, and it also increases the blood pressure.

Cadmium:

Cadmium is a carcinogenic agent, and it causes damage to the brain, liver and kidney.

Acetaldehyde:

Acetaldehyde is also a carcinogenic and these are responsible for the absorption of toxic chemicals into the bronchial tubes.

Formaldehyde:

Formaldehyde is very harmful to the digestive system, and it also is responsible for causing nasal cancer.

Chromium:

Chromium is known to cause lung cancer, and they are usually used to treat wood and preserve them.

Inference:

If you take a closer look at all the ingredients that are used in a cigarette, you will know that plenty of toxic chemical substances are used to make a cigarette, and most of these chemicals are used for coating metals, foam insulation, resins, glues, chemical solvents etc. Thus it is very important for you to quit smoking as lots of carcinogenic and toxic substance enters your body.

What is Vaping?

differenttypesofecigs2

Vaping industry has had exceptional growth in the past years, and many people are quite aware of e-cigars. But still there are a few people who are not quite sure of what vaping is, and they have various questions related vaping. If you happen to be one among them, this article will provide a good understanding of vaping.

What is Vaping?

Vaping is when you inhale water vapour which is produced through e-cigarette or a personal vaporizer or a similar device. In other words, vaping is more like an alternative to smoking where you do get affected by the adverse effects of smoking. E-Cigarettes were introduced to the public so that it will help them to stop smoking and not encourage non-smokers to start smoking. With vaping, you will not have any bad breath or be affected by cancer or other heart diseases which would otherwise be caused due to smoking tobacco.

Vaporizer:

The device that turns the vaping material or the e-liquid into vapour is called a vaporizer. The device is usually made up of battery, an atomizer, cartridges, cartomizer and these things convert the vaping material into a vapour.

Materials that are vaped:

Most of the vaporizers use e-liquids. Some of the other common materials that are used are wax concentrates and dry herbs. Some of the e-vaporizers use a tank or a cartridge whereas the dry herb has a heating chamber. There are even multipurpose vaporizers which will allow you to switch between cartridges.

E-liquid:

E-liquid is the common material that is used in vaping devices, and it is made out of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine; this liquid might not even contain nicotine. There are lots of varieties of e-liquid that are available in the market, and some of them even have flavours.

What is vaping like?

Vaping provides different experiences to various people. Depending on the amount of nicotine you are able to bear you will be able to differentiate the strength of vaping. Some are ultra-thin, and some are very strong while others do not have any nicotine in it. When you inhale strong nicotine, you will have a stronger sensation. Nicotine is quite addictive, and thus you need to know when to limit your consumption.

One thing you need to remember is that e-cigars are invented to help people who smoke to quit their smoking habit, and this should not turn out to be in a reverse manner. At the same time, one cannot say that vaping is completely safe as nothing can be considered as completely safe. However, based on various researchers and studies vaping is considered to be safer when compared to smoking tobacco as no toxic substance get released in vaping.

Giving up smoking is so hard, and thus many people use e-cigarettes to battle the withdrawal symptoms. You can slowly reduce the dosage of nicotine to a point where you no longer are addicted to the drug.
